Today, Stunlock Studios announced that Battlerite Royale, a mix between a MOBO and a Battle Royale, is now out of Steam's Early Access and fully released as a Free-to-Play title.

With the game now fully released, Stunlock Studios have released three new heroes, as well as what the studio is calling the BIG PATCH.
The Big Patch™ hits servers one day before the free to play launch of Battlerite Royale, on February 18th at 9:00 AM CET. Downtime is scheduled to last up to 2 hours. Both Battlerite and Battlerite Royale will be offline during this time. There are lots of large changes coming to Battlerite Royale with this patch.
“We know that our community has been looking forward to the free-to-play launch of Battlerite Royale for months and we are thrilled that this day has finally arrived!” said Johan Ilves, Marketing Director at Stunlock Studios. “Today we are also releasing the BIG PATCH so both Arena and Royale players can expect lots of new features, taking the Battlerite universe to the next level.”The new patch includes the Battle Pass system, which will offer players a Free Pass and the opportunity to upgrade it to a Premium Pass in order to obtain exclusive cosmetics. Three new champions are also included in the patch. Oldur, who bends time and space to disrupt his foes, Taya, who summons tornadoes to knock her opponents away, and Pearl, who unleashes the 'ocean's fury' upon her opponents that can block projectiles and dealing damage while rooting opponents in place.
New areas are also added to the game, with Talon Island expanding with two new areas, the Frozen Plateau and Trade's Inlet, with new 'regional objects' added around the map. Players can also purchase the Legendary Adventure Pack 2 for $39.99, which includes six new Legendary Adventure Outfits, six Epic Matching Weapons, one Legendary Baby Flame Wyvern Mount, and 3 Royale Chests.

In August 2018, the developers announced that the game mode would no longer be free and instead would be released as a standalone game planned to be released by the end of September of the same year.In July 2019, the Stunlock Studios announced that active work on the title would stop. October of the same year saw the last content update; both Battlerite and Battlerite Royal were to stay in 'maintenance mode' for the foreseeable future.
Contents.Gameplay Battlerite consists of two teams, with two or three players each, battling against each other. Before the game begins, each player chooses a unique playable character called a Champion with unique offensive, defensive, and movement abilities. Defeating every player on the enemy team wins the round for your team, and winning three rounds wins your team the game. Rounds have a timer of around two minutes, and when the timer runs out a Sudden Death boundary appears which gradually forces players into a small area in the center of the map. Games may be played on one of several maps, each favoring different strategies.Unlike traditional games, the goal of the game is not to destroy towers or other base structures. Additionally, players do not kill neutral units to gain resources, and therefore players cannot buy items or other resources in the game to augment their character's stats or abilities. This leads to an action-focused gameplay with in short matches compared to the longer strategy-focused games common in the genre.
